Organic - Why is it better?
Organic - Why is it better?
The Conventional Cotton industry uses 25% of the world's pesticides. (See the ugly truth below)
3RD ROCK only ever use Organic Cotton, produced entirely free of chemical pesticides . (See the happy healthy way)
The Happy Healthy Way
I went to visit the organic cotton farms in central India and had the pleasure to meet many farmers, and scientists, that give guidance in organic and symbiotic farming methods to achieve good yields''. Jessica Mor - Founder
The Ugly Truth
Conventional cotton farming uses dangerous chemical pesticides (more chemicals per unit area than any other crop) that poison the eco systems and water systems around them, not to mention hazardous, for farmers. Education of chemical handling and safety equipment is often non-existent in poor countries where cotton is mostly grown.
COTTON PESTICIDES KILL:
Pesticides are responsible for 20,000 agricultural workers deaths each year and have been responsible for birth defects and groundwater poisoning in cotton farming communities. One single drop of Aldicarb (a pesticide used on cotton in 26 countries) absorbed on the skin can kill an adult.
Katharine Hamnett explains in this video:
CAUSE ENVIRONMENTAL CATASTROPHES:
The impact of conventional cotton farming has destroyed the Aral sea! One of the biggest environmental catastrophes of our time. The Environmental Justice Foundation explains in this video:
AND FARMER DESPERATION:
'The Cotton Film: Dirty White Gold' shows a glimpse of the cotton farmer suicide issue in India. GMO cotton seeds are sold with compulsory pesticides (farmers must purchase fresh seeds every year as they are not able to replant them the following year) on the promise of good yields. Year after year the cotton yields are decreasing whilst pests tolerances are increasing, causing more chemicals to be used. This vicious cycle is resulting in the loss of soil fertility, debt and desperation for cotton farmers.

We are adamant never to use conventional cotton as it causes human suffering and environmental disasters.
